NHS Board Chief Executives set up NPPEAG to:
- oversee the transfer of responsibility to NHS Board pharmacies
- provide a mechanism to manage demand
- develop guidelines for use and protocols for managing shortages
- review products requirements (types & volumes) and agree volumes to be procured on committed volumes contracts
- audit plasma product usage against guidelines
- provide source of expert advice and obtain SIGN/ADTC agreement of new indications for use as appropriate
- report to the NHS Board Chief Executives’ Group.
NPPEAG was established in 2009 and meets 3-4 times a year.
