NHS Board Chief Executives set up NPPEAG to:

  • oversee the transfer of responsibility to NHS Board pharmacies
  • provide a mechanism to manage demand
  • develop guidelines for use and protocols for managing shortages
  • review products requirements (types & volumes) and agree volumes to be procured on committed volumes contracts
  • audit plasma product usage against guidelines
  • provide source of expert advice and obtain SIGN/ADTC agreement of new indications for use as appropriate
  • report to the NHS Board Chief Executives’ Group.

NPPEAG was established in 2009 and meets 3-4 times a year.
